Groundhog Gala 2012 - Pin Up Inspired shoot

Back in February, I did a pin-up themed photoshoot at the Groundhog Gala car show in Sanford. There are so many great images from that day and I'm long overdue to highlight a few. Here are some of my favorites.

Mannequin Update!

Hard to believe it's been over a year since we had our last mannequin update! Where does the time go?
Over the past year, Bill's little lady has had a lot of work done. She got a beautiful set of ruby-red lips...

And a full back tattoo! It's hard enough to keep a steady hand while pinstriping, but check out how he painted it to match the curved posture. Such talent. You can check out more of his pinstriping on his website, kidstriping.com

Aaaand, I've got to show off a little gift my father in law rescued from the trash and fixed up for me. Our girl is holding the latest addition to my Halloween arsenal. Only someone who knows me would give me a severed head in January. If that's not love, I don't know what is. :)

Hogsmeade Hipstamatic

Since our annual passes are about to expire, we decided to really spend some time in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter last weekend. Normally, we just breeze through since I have no patience for long lines and wall to wall people (which is what this section of Islands of Adventure invariably is).

But armed with my iPhone and calm demeanor, I sought to preserve this magical land. For who knows when we'll be back again.

All shots below were taken with Hipstamatic.

Farewell Jaws

Earlier this month (on my birthday, to be exact) Universal Studios Florida closed the Jaws ride permanently. I got to ride it one last time on that day and I shot the experience on my iphone. I've created a few storyboards of my last ride as a tribute to my favorite shark.

All shots were taken via Hipstamatic.

Film: Blanko

And if these stills don't help preserve the memory, there's this awesome video created by Inside the Magic. RIP, Bruce.

Happy New Year!

As I've gotten older, I've realized that New Year's Resolutions don't work for me. I think it's too much pressure to put on yourself for a whole year. Let's just take things one day at a time, shall we?

I do like the idea of fresh starts. Of changing something that needs changing, improving things that could use improving. I just think you can do that whenever you get the urge. Doesn't necessarily have to be in January. But, in the spirit of tradition...

I would like to try to make more posts this year than last. It's hard, though. These things take time and that's the one thing I don't really have a lot of. I've been shooting a lot, I just haven't updated the blahhg. But I would like to be better about that.

I started this thing as basically, a place to showcase the images I shoot, but it became more than that for me. It became sort of a constant reminder for me to push myself creatively and to hone my skills. It became, in it's own way, a source of inspiration for me. And then I began to neglect it. Which, in a way, is just neglecting myself. Deep thoughts by Christy B....

So, on that note, here is a funny image of a giraffe to lighten the mood. It's my personal belief that life should be filled with levity and laughter. It's too short to take too seriously.

And here is a shot of an alpaca with bad teeth. Just for good measure.

Zombitoberfest

Zombitoberfest 2011 was a killer neighborhood festival held in my old stomping grounds of Audubon Park this past weekend. What a better way to kick-start October than by dressing up like a zombie and partying outdoors with some live bands, food trucks, etc? They even had zombie makeovers for the undead.

These are some of my favorite shots of the night. Remember, only 27 days left until Halloween!

Milk Study - Part 2

As I mentioned in my last post, Milk Study - Part 1, my friend Thomas combined his artistic talents and sense of humor as a way to ward off evil milk thieves from our office's community fridge. He's working on getting his Milk blog up, but in the meantime, here are some more images I took that really show the progression of his madness art.
