This weekend was a bust. LAME - We didn't go anywhere and the only shots I took were of Chloe playing with a Barbie birthday party invite. The pose was her idea and I'm lucky I even got this shot. This was the best of the three I managed to snap off before she got mad and told me I was taking too many pictures. Three is too many?!? Poor kid has no idea what is in store for her for the rest of her life. I can't decide whether this pic is funny or creepy. Either way, I like it.

Barefoot Week

This week is "Barefoot Week", a non-competition week over at iHeartFaces. The photos can be anything around shoes and feet. But more importantly, they're helping to promote a great charity called Soles4Souls.
Ironically, I took this picture the day before I saw the theme. It's an image of what two pre-schooler feet look like after playing in the backyard in the summer. It reminds me of my own childhood and the summers I spent with my cousins in Missouri.

Blueberry Picking
I have always wanted to go blueberry picking. For Chloe's birthday weekend extravaganza, we finally did. Blue Bayou Farms is a great place to not only pick blueberries ($4/lb.), but to enjoy some pastries or German food from the bakery next door. The blueberries are 100% organic, so you can eat as you're picking and not have to worry about consuming any nasty chemicals. There is nothing like warm, juicy, hand-picked blueberries. Nothing. Plus, on Sundays they have free pony rides. Can this place get any better?!?
They are not really radioactive blue, that's just me getting squirly with photoshop...
This is what they really look like. Yum. (Chloe's fingernails courtesy of OPI's new Shrek colors)
They are so ripe, they're literally falling off the bushes
This is what happens when no one picks them. Do you want that on your conscience? Do you?!?

Lake Greenwood in May
After my first attempt at HDR (Lake Greenwood in February), I got the idea to make a 4-part series of the changing seasons reflected in the Lake Greenwood landscape. So here is part 2, which would be Spring. I wish there had been more clouds in the sky and less whatever-the-gunk-that-is in the lake, but it is what it is.

Ponce Inlet Lighthouse
We made our first trip to the beach this year to Ponce Inlet. It's a beautiful beach and is home to the tallest lighthouse in Florida. It has been up since 1887 and is 175 feet tall. I climbed the 203 steps to the top, taking some shots along the way. Check out my friend Kristi's blog, Unknown Florida for some more info on the place and for other great ideas of things to do in Central Florida!

Apopka Art & Foliage Festival
This was our fifth(?) annual trip to the Apopka Art and Foliage Festival. I look forward to it every year. They have art and foliage obviously, but this year they also had some interesting wildlife.
Chloe thought the butterfly tent was awesome.
There was a taxidermy vendor there this year. Creepy, but interesting.
I fell in love with this rehabilitated owl!
He was so beautiful and he knew it.

DIY Photography Accessories
"On the day the digital camera was invented, the photographer died." I completely thought this way for a long time! This article cracks me up, but it really has a lot of great tips. I'm going to make my own light tent, definitely.
